Tiger, zebra stripes, and snake skin finishes were a major factor in the visual impact of '80s hard rock, and now Badlands Guitar Company is pumped to unveil our latest creation: the GX1 Hellcat! The Hellcat is our most ambitious finish to date and pays homage to one of the most unforgettable finishes of 80s rock guitars.

No Compromises, Just Pure Rock!

At BGC, our priority is crafting and delivering fine, custom, shop-quality instruments for those who love old-school hard rock and metal. We never compromise on quality or true-to-era design and construction, ensuring a superlative playing experience.

The Hellcat showcases a unique, breathtaking hand-painted two-tone finish that shifts from metallic bronze to pearl white adorned with leopard spots across an alder body. We then add a quartersawn three-piece maple bolt-on neck, finished in sleek black gloss and an ebony fingerboard inlaid with a special "cat's eye" marker at the 12th fret, making this guitar standout on any stage.

The Hellcat also introduces our brand new M89 pickup in the bridge position, delivering an aggressive growl that evokes some of the most sought-after high-performance pickups of the '80s. It is also BGC's first three-pickup guitar; two M81 single coils, specially designed to pair perfectly with the M89 humbucker. Using a five-way rotary switch, another first for BGC, the Hellcat provides a wide range of tones perfect for hard rock and beyond.

A Perfect Hard Rock Partnership: Special BGC-Edition Keeley Caverns Reverb/Delay

BGC has teamed up with the one and only Keeley Electronics to produce a limited-edition, BGC-exclusive pedal: the Keeley Caverns Delay Reverb pedal in a matching Hellcat finish! Every Hellcat instrument will include this exclusive, limited-edition Caverns pedal. The Caverns combines two of our favorite effects—delay and reverb—into one compact pedal, making it a seamless addition to any rig. It features Keeley’s warm, analog-style tape delay with modulation and three different types of reverb (spring, modulation, and shimmer), making it perfect for lifting solos, adding depth and movement to arpeggiated lines, and thickening rhythmic parts.

SPECIFICATIONS

Body

Construction: Bolt-on

Body Shape: DC-86

Wood: Alder

Features: S-style contour body, recessed neck heel

Finish: Polyurethane

Neck

Scale: 25.5”

Neck Wood: 3-piece quarter sawn with carbon fiber reinforced rods

Fingerboard Wood: Ebony with rolled edges

Fingerboard Inlay: Custom 12th fret hellcat inlay

Side Dots: White

Tuners: Gotoh SG360 MG locking tuners

Truss Rod: Dual-action (headstock adjustment)

Truss Rod Cover: 3 Ply B/W/B with GX1 logo

Headstock Type: BGC original

Headstock Finish: Custom black and gold colorway

Headstock Angle: 11°

Headstock Markings: Serial + emblem sticker

Neck Profile: C shape

Neck Thickness: 1st fret: .800” / 12th fret: .850”

Nut Width: 1.6875"

Back of Neck Finish: Premium black gloss (polyurethane)

Fingerboard Radius: 14”

Fretwire: Jescar nickel silver 57100

Number of Frets: 22

Strings: D'Addario NYXL 9-42

Hardware

Nut: Bone

Hardware Color: Black

Plastics Color: Black

Output Jack Cover: Football jack cover

Knobs: Metal knurled knob

Neck Plate: Custom Badlands neck plate

Case: G&G premium hardshell case

Electronics

Pickup Configuration: HSS

Pickups: BGC M81 - Neck/Middle, Alnico V - 12.8K (handwound in USA)

Pickups: BGC M89B - Bridge, Ceramic - 15.9K (handwound in USA)

Pickup Rings: Black plastic

Toggle Switch: 5-way Alpha rotary switch

Volume: Fender dual 500K/250K split shaft pot

Output Jack: Hosco OJ-120L

Specials: Recessed electronics cavity

Manufacturer: Badlands Guitars
Model: BGC-GX1-HC-RHHT-CLASSIC FADE
SKU: I841024-N-US23PTCLS01-0-WHXX

We are Musictoner Musictoner

Since 1958, Chuck Levin’s Musictoner has been the trusted destination for musicians and audio professionals across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
