Although they feature one of the most popular and traditional drum shell materials, STAR Maple drums have some very unique hidden features that set them apart from the rest. The ultra-thin 5-ply, 5mm shells are comprised of a 2mm thick solid wood core ply, sandwiched between 1.5mm thick cross-laminated plies on both sides.

Ultra-thin maple shells with a solid ply core provide the expected brightness and openness of maple while enhancing body and warmth—resulting in a unique hybrid tone characteristic of solid shell drums.

Air Hole

Strategically placed air holes enhance tonal resonance and projection for increased sensitivity and response.

Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snare Wire

The 20-strand Hi-Carbon wires offer crisp, articulate snare response with heightened sensitivity and clarity.

"Linear-Drive" Strainer

Featuring Tama's patented Linear-Drive mechanism, the strainer provides smooth, precise snare tension adjustment for dynamic control.

Newly Designed One-Piece Lug

One-piece STAR lugs reduce shell contact and weight, allowing for more open shell resonance and focused tuning stability.
