Tiptop Audio Buchla 259t Programmable Complex Waveform Generator Eurorack Module

Tiptop Audio Buchla 259t Complex Waveform Generator

The Tiptop Audio Buchla 259t Complex Waveform Generator is the Eurorack realization of the legendary Buchla 259 Complex Oscillator, developed in collaboration with Buchla U.S.A. to preserve its unmistakable timbral range. With two rich oscillators under one panel, deep internal normalizations, and the classic Timbre and Harmonics waveshaping architecture, the 259t delivers a massive palette of cross-modulated tones—from smooth and musical to wildly otherworldly. Tiptop’s ART technology adds modern functionality, enabling ART-based control, auto-tuning with compatible modules, and polyphonic voice allocation workflows.

• Dual-oscillator “Complex Oscillator” design with extensive timbral shaping
• Principal oscillator with sine, square, and variable Final output routed through Timbre and Harmonics sections
• Modulation oscillator with selectable ramp, square, and triangle waves, plus dedicated triangle output
• Modulation oscillator includes a unipolar CV output that follows the waveform selection
• Range control for modulation oscillator supports LFO operation or audio-rate modulation
• Each oscillator includes FM input, frequency CV input with attenuverter, and 1V/oct or ART input
• Harmonics and Timbre sections include multiple waveshapers: wavefolder, ramp/saw shaper, and M/pseudo-square shaper
• Order control crossfades between waveshaper outputs
• Symmetry adds DC offset for increasingly asymmetric folding shapes
• Timbre control adjusts the depth of waveshaping
• Normalization switches enable internal routing for Phase Lock, AM, FM, and Timbre modulation
• ART inputs and gate outputs for each oscillator enable auto-tuning and polyphonic workflows with other ART modules

Use the oscillators independently for classic dual-VCO patching, or lean into the 259t’s internal modulation links to unlock the signature Buchla “complex” sound quickly—then refine it with the Harmonics/Timbre shapers for a spectrum that’s always moving, always musical, and always uniquely 259.
